FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Authorities in Fort Lauderdale are investigating a triple shooting that occurred over the weekend.
It happened on the top of a Fort Lauderdale parking garage off East Las Olas Circle early Sunday morning.
6 p.m. report:
Police said three people were shot.
Authorities have not said much about the incident, but it’s likely the shooting was caught on one of the many surveillance cameras at the garage.
One of the victims, 19-year-old Richard Murray, is at Broward Health Medical Center with critical injuries.
His mother, Celeste Thompson, said he was shot multiple times while on the top level of the parking garage.
He and a group of friends were out Saturday night to send off their friend, who is about to deploy.
“They were at their cars and just dancing and celebrating hard because she’s leaving,” said Thompson.
Police say multiple people came up to the group and started shooting.
Thompson says her son was taken to the hospital where he has had three surgeries already.
“We need someone to come forth and give us answers,” she said. “We don’t have any answers.”
Thompson told Local 10 News’ that Fort Lauderdale police have not given the family much information.
She says her son is an excellent student who attends Florida Atlantic University with plans to transfer to Harvard University.
“He has a major in business finance,” said Thompson. “He wants to open up a Fortune 500.”
A GoFundMe page was created to help with medical expenses.
Police have not made any arrests or said if they are seeking any suspects or persons of interest.
