FBI spokesman James Marshall confirmed that the agency is investigating an armed robbery of a business in the 10800 block of Northwest 17th Street in Sweetwater in connection with the incident.

Authorities said they pursued a white van north on 107th Avenue before the chase came to an end near the 10800 block South River Drive in Medley.

In Sweetwater, Sky 10 captured aerial footage of the pursuit and arrests as police vehicles surrounded the area and what appeared to be a warehouse district was roped off with crime scene tape.

During the pursuit, authorities said at least one Sweetwater officer discharged a firearm after the suspects fled the scene and ended up in Medley.

“It appears they ran off the road and met a parked 18-wheeler” before being taken into custody, according to Sweetwater Police Department Chief Sergio Diez.

One person, who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, was seen on video and later transported to a nearby hospital, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The individual’s age, identity and condition have not yet been released.

“Today is a good day because none my officers were hurt,” Diez added.

Another person was seen wearing a mask before being taken into custody. Authorities said least three individuals were arrested at the end of the pursuit.

The circumstances surrounding the armed robbery and the shooting remain under investigation.

Local 10 has reached out to FBI Miami to inquire about the armed robbery.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the police-involved shooting.
