MIAMI – A 64-year-old Miami man is facing an attempted murder charge after police say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend after his chain allegedly went missing, leaving her critically injured before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

The suspect, identified by Miami police as Alfonso Watt Bueno, was arrested Sunday − just two days after officers responded to a report of a woman stabbed just before 9 a.m. at a local fishing spot near the 7000 block of West Flagler Street.
According to an arrest report, officers with the Miami Police Department responded to the scene in emergency mode and found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the shoulder.
Authorities said Miami Fire Rescue transported her to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
A witness said he was fishing when he heard a woman screaming, according to the report.
Moments later, the witness told police he saw Watt Bueno heading south with a bicycle and asked why he was leaving. Watt Bueno replied, “I will see you later,” and continued walking, the report stated.
The witness said he then found the victim bleeding while another man was applying pressure to her wound, according to police. That man reportedly also fled the scene, saying he couldn’t call police because of a “possible open warrant,” according to the report.
Another witness said he poured water on the woman and slapped her lightly to keep her from losing consciousness, police said. In a faint voice, the woman reportedly whispered, “Alfonso stabbed me,” the report stated.
Police later showed both witnesses a sequential photo lineup, and confirmed that both identified Watt Bueno as the attacker.
Detectives followed up with the victim the next day at the hospital.
In a sworn audio-recorded statement, they said the woman said that on the day of the attack, Watt Bueno confronted her about a chain he had given her the previous week.
She said that before she had a chance to respond, he stabbed her, according to police.
Police said she remembered nothing after that point. The woman also clarified that while she had known Watt Bueno for about two years, they were not currently in a relationship and had never lived together.
When shown a single photo of Watt Bueno in the hospital, the victim once again said, “Alfonso stabbed me,” the report stated.
Authorities said Watt Bueno was taken into custody by the MPD’s Domestic Violence Apprehension Team on Sunday.
At MPD headquarters, authorities said he was read his constitutional rights in Spanish and agreed to speak without an attorney present.
Detectives say he gave a full confession, although details of that statement were redacted in the publicly released report.
Jail records show Watt Bueno is facing one count each of attempted felony murder causing injury and battery with two prior convictions.
As of Tuesday, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond is listed as “to be set.”
