Authorities said Christian Jesus Arias Acosta was taken into custody at Power Gym on Northwest Seventh Street in Little Havana after officers were tipped off by the victim, who said she “feared for her life.”

The victim told investigators that she and Arias Acosta had been in a relationship for about five months before breaking up.

On June 6, at around 10:15 a.m., police said she contacted them to report that he had been sending her violent voice messages.

In one of the messages, she pleaded, “And if I don’t let you see me, you won’t stop bothering me? Christian, please stop,” according to the report.

That’s when police said Arias Acosta replied, “No, never — until you die.”

In another message, he said, “I am going to explain to you how I will decapitate you and hang your head on the balcony of your house,” the report stated.

Detectives said the victim provided recordings of the threats. They also noted that the pair had a documented history of domestic violence.

They said Arias Acosta was arrested without incident and taken to MPD headquarters, where he waived his Miranda rights and made a confession that was redacted in the publicly-released report.
