PLANTATION, Fla. – Court documents made public on Wednesday are revealing additional details about a shooting in a Plantation motel room over the weekend that left one man dead and a woman seriously wounded.

The shooting happened at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Plantation Motel at 950 S. State Road 7 and police later arrested the 51-year-old suspect, Ronald Davis, in Coral Springs.

While an arrest report provided to Local 10 News on Monday was heavily redacted, a considerably less redacted version sheds more light on the deadly double shooting.

According to Plantation police, witnesses reported that Davis, of Lauderhill, known to them as “Sugar Daddy,” had been upset earlier in the evening about a traffic ticket and his vehicle being towed.

He was also overheard on the phone saying that a woman, apparently one of the victims, owed him money “and if she doesn’t pay she’ll get beat up,” police said.

The report states he would later confront two “unknown” men who showed up to the motel room, one of whom was on the phone call.

Police said Davis returned to the hotel room about an hour later and began “pounding on the front door.”

“(Redacted) told everyone not to let ‘Sugar Daddy’ inside, but one of the unknown males opened the door,” the report states.

It would prove to be a deadly decision, authorities said; Davis “immediately” shot the man.

“At this time, (redacted) is sitting on the only bed, which is in the center of the hotel room. After shooting the male, ‘Sugar Daddy’ walks over to (redacted) and shoots her multiple times,” the report states. “‘Sugar Daddy’ then walks back to the male and shoots him again. ‘Sugar Daddy’ walks back over to (redacted) for a second time and shoots her again. ‘Sugar Daddy’ then walks back over to the male for a third time and fires at least one more round.”

Witnesses said they heard Davis say “All y’all gonna learn today” and “Y’all tryin’ to set me up” as he shot the pair.

A witness staying in another room said she saw Davis, whom she also knew as “Sugar Daddy,” coming out of the room “with an angry look on his face” and fleeing in an SUV.

“(She) then went inside room #3 and observed (the woman) and a male shot, and screamed for someone to contact police,” the report states.

Police said officers would arrive to find the man “lying face down in a pool of blood,” dead, and the woman shot, but “conscious and breathing.”

While being taken to the hospital, police said an officer asked the woman who shot her.

“Ronald Davis,” police said she responded.

The woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for emergency surgery. Davis would later be taken into custody in the 12000 block of West Sample Road in Coral Springs.

Authorities have not publicly identified the man killed.

As of Wednesday, Davis remained held without bond in the Broward Main Jail on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
