KENDALE LAKES, Fla. – Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies surrounded a home and its surrounding area on Thursday in the Kendale Lakes neighborhood.
Dozens of M-DCSO deputies closed off two lines of one-story townhouses built in the early 1970s in the quiet neighborhood’s Royale Green area.
Deputies focused on a three-bedroom one-bathroom townhouse facing Southwest 128 Avenue, between 54 Street and Miller Drive.
A Special Weapons And Tactics team also responded to a report of a “barricaded subject” who was experiencing a mental health crisis, according to M-DCSO.
A Local 10 News source reported that the “subject” was a man with a pending domestic violence case and was accused of battery against a law enforcement officer.
According to the source, the man’s mother went to court and told a judge that he was scared of police and was afraid to arrive to go to court.
Records show the subject as identified by the source is not the registered property owner.
This is a developing story. Local 10 News Assignment Editor Frine Gomez, Joyce Grace Ortega, and Mercedes Cevallos contributed to this report.
