Joann Fabrics will begin to close more stores across the country, according to a recent court filing.

Documents filed on Wednesday, seek to close 500 stores across the country.

Stores in the state of Florida, Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania are expected to be the most heavily affected by the announcement of the closures.

The fabric and crafts retailer initially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2024.

According to the company website, Joann opened its first store in Cleveland, Ohio more than 80 years ago. It grew to include 829 store locations across 49 states.

Joann’s joins another retailer, Big Lots. It is also expected to close more stores across the country, including all of the South Florida locations.
