Harris on Palm Beach shooting near Trump: ‘I am glad he is safe’

Vice President Kamala Harris released a statement Sunday after a shooting near former President Donald Trump while he was playing golf in Palm Beach County.

Harris, who is running for president against Trump, released a statement saying that she had been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach.

“I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America,” Harris wrote.

Trump was not injured after the shooting shortly before 2 p.m. The U.S. Secret Service was investigating the shooting about two months after an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Deputies arrested a suspect in a sports utility vehicle in Martin County.
