Dolphins top draft pick Chop Robinson prepares for first professional game

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Chop Robinson is ready to go.

The Dolphins drafted the linebacker with the No. 21 pick in the first round.

Robinson will make his NFL debut on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium against the Washington Commanders.

Robinson grew up in Maryland.

He was a Ravens fan, but his father was a big Commanders fan.

Robinson said that on Saturday night his dad will be at the game, but he’ll be wearing Dolphins colors.

Edge rusher Jaelan Phillips said he’s been trying to get Robinson to celebrate more after big plays.

Robinson said, “That’s just how I am. I’m a next play mentality type of guy. JP is getting out of me I made a few plays against the Falcons in joint practice, I was getting a little excited. He said, I need more of that.., the more confident I get in making plays, stuff will start coming out.”

Robinson said playing with Phillips has been “insane” and that off the field he’s been a mentor to him.

Robinson said he doesn’t want to overthink his first game, “I know the playbook so I just have to go out there and play.”
