Tyler Herro excited to play off-the-ball in backcourt with Terry Rozier

MIAMI – The Miami Heat offense will have a new look this year.

Guard Terry Rozier is healthy again and now he’ll be paired with Tyler Herro in the backcourt.

Rozier had a neck injury at the end of last season and missed significant time.

The Heat traded for Rozier from Charlotte with the hopes that he would run the point.

With Rozier handling the ball, that frees up Tyler Herro to play a new role.

Herro talked about that role on Tuesday.

Herro said, “It’s probably my first season, besides my rookie year, where I’ve kind of don’t have as many ball handling duties as I have in the past. Obviously, I love having the ball in my hands. Being able to kind of flow into that is going to be easier on me. It’ll me more efficient in my game. Playing off Terry, playing off Jimmy and Bam, not necessarily having to be the main guard handling the ball.”

Herro added, “It’s good. I like it. Takes some time to get used to. I haven’t really done that since I was at Kentucky. Something that I’m open to doing and excited about.”

The Heat have three more preseason games.

Miami opens the regular season at home against Orlando on Oct. 23.
