BOCA RATON, Fla. – Hall of Fame linebacker and Baltimore Ravens legend Ray Lewis could soon take on a new role in football — this time on the sidelines.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted on X Wednesday that Lewis is a candidate for the head coaching position at Florida Atlantic University, following the dismissal of Tom Herman.

Herman was let go on Monday after FAU struggled to a 2-8 record this season, following a 4-8 finish in 2023.
Schefter also highlighted that Lewis’ potential candidacy is influenced by the success of Deion Sanders at Colorado.
Sanders has led Colorado to an impressive 8-2 record in his second season and has them in contention for the Big 12 Championship and possibly the College Football Playoff.
During his remarkable 17-year career with the Ravens, Lewis established himself as one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history.
A 12-time Pro Bowler and seven-time First-Team All-Pro, Lewis earned two Defensive Player of the Year awards and helped Baltimore secure Super Bowl titles in 2001 and 2012 — his final season before retirement.
He also played his college ball at the University of Miami and is touted as one of the greatest Hurricanes in history.
Lewis remains the NFL’s all-time leader in tackles with 2,059, having led the league in tackles three times.
