Multiple reports came out during the day indicating the team was going to make the move.
Butler missed a team flight on Wednesday and had planned to rejoin the Heat in Milwaukee, but the team decided to keep him home for their two-game road trip, ESPN’s Sham Charania confirmed.
Late Wednesday night, the Heat made it official, releasing statement that read:
“We have suspended Jimmy Butler for two games for continued pattern of disregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct and conduct detrimental to the team, including missing today’s team flight to Milwaukee.”
Butler’s latest suspension comes just weeks after he served a seven-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
Rumors are also swirling that the Phoenix Suns are exploring a trade for Butler, as his dissatisfaction with the Heat continues to grow.
The Miami Heat are 21-21 on the season after losing 116-107 to the Portland Trail Blazers (15-28) on Tuesday.
Miami’s next game is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET, when they face the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum.
