FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Florida Panthers fans are getting ready for a possible Stanley Cup victory.
Fans got an early start at the Baptist Health IcePlex, the team’s training facility, for the Panthers morning skate ahead of Game 6 against the Edmonton Oilers.
Noon report:
“I can’t wait, it’s going be so exciting,” said Panthers fan Jennifer Gigler. “We were there last year. We’re taking the Cup tonight.”
Gigler said she woke up wearing her Panthers jersey on Tuesday and will be sleeping in it again when she goes to bed later, hopefully after a big win.
She said even the players who had been toughest to love have since won her over.
“I have not been a (Brad) Marchand fan, but he’s made me a believer this year,” she said.
Fans also were early arrivals to Amerant Bank Arena before the big game.
“We live in the Florida Keys so we started driving very early this morning,” said Panthers fan Dee Dee Smause.
Overall, there was plenty of confidence that the Panthers would be keeping the Stanley Cup in South Florida.
“We’re planning a parade!” said Amyjean Baptiste.
The puck is set to drop on Game 6 between the Panthers and Oilers at 8 p.m. from Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.
