Former University of Miami defensive back Avantae Williams has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in East Central Florida.

Avantae Williams has been reinstated.

Safety Avantae Williams is ready to rejoin the University of Miami’s football program, his attorney said on Thursday in a statement.

Avante Williams was arrested last month for aggravated battery against his girlfriend, but the charges have since been dropped.

University of Miami Hurricanes safety Avantae Williams has been suspended from all team activities after he was arrested Wednesday night on a charge of aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, a UM spokesperson confirmed to Local 10 News in an email.
