Microsoft, which is worth more than $1 trillion compared to Slack's market value of $10 billion, is hoping to unseat Slack with its Teams collaborative workplace app. Two analysts issued bearish reports on Slack this week, adding to the downward pressure on the stock. "We have observed strong fundamental progress of Microsoft Teams over the past 12 months," said Mizuho analyst Gregg Moskowitz in a report. He added that "there was a heavy focus on Teams" at Microsoft's Ignite conference for developers earlier this week, and noted that "customer interest levels in Microsoft Teams were very high." He argued that the competition from Microsoft "could slow growth going forward quicker" than most analysts are expecting.

One analyst said he "fully expects" Amazon to try to fight the decision in court. The contentious decision represents a major loss for Amazon and a boon to Microsoft, especially as both companies have seen the growth of their cloud businesses slow in recent months. The timing is especially painful for Amazon, which said it was surprised by the decision, calling itself the "clear leader in cloud computing." US tariff delay buys time for Big Tech

Read full article: US tariff delay buys time for Big Tech

Justin Sullivan/Getty ImagesCUPERTINO, Calif. - Dozens of tech companies are gearing up to announce new cell phones, laptops, video game consoles, toys and other gadgets for the holiday season. Most of those products would have gotten pricier because of new tariffs that the United States just delayed. Apple and many other tech companies count on the second half of the year, with new product announcements and the holiday season, to drive sales. Tech companies have spent decades building up interconnected supply chains which include parts suppliers, trained labor and transportation routes to support manufacturing in China. If tech companies did move production out of China, it would probably be to countries in Southeast Asia, close to the existing supply chain, rather than to the United States.

Read full article: Sony has sold 100 million PS4 consoles

In an earnings report released Tuesday, Sony revealed it sold 3.2 million of the game consoles in the quarter that ended June 30, pushing it to the 100 million unit sales mark. Sony debuted the PS4 in November 2013 and by December 2017 had sold over 70.6 million units worldwide. In 2017, Sony console sales underwent a resurgence as newer, better PlayStation games, such as Dragon Quest XI, Injustice 2 and Madden, hit the market. According to analyst Dan Ives, the PS4 has sold well above competitors, calling the 100 million "an impressive number." Sony hasn't released a new generation console since the PS4 although it did debut an iteration, the PS4 Pro, in September 2016.
