The U.S. Census Bureau said it wont be delivering data used for redrawing state and local legislative districts until the end of September 2021. That will cause headaches for state lawmakers and redistricting commissions facing deadlines to redraw state legislative districts this year. The compressed time frame for data collection increased the risk of compromised data quality, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in its High-Risk Report. The Trump administration then came up with another plan to end data collection a month early and cut the time for data processing by almost half. The statistical agency also announced last month that redistricting data used to redraw congressional and legislative districts won't be ready until the end of September.

MIAMI – Cubanos for Biden members were among the group who met on Wednesday outside of the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami, as the presidential inauguration was on display on a large projector along Biscayne Boulevard. Miami Police Department officers were outside to protect the group of about 15 people, as they celebrated President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. “It’s everything to us as immigrants,” Wills said about Harris’ journey to the White House. “We are going to honor their memory and honor those who are being afflicted by it right now in our community,” Wills said.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s guitar-shaped tower in Hollywood and the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens also participated in the nationwide tribute. In Washington, D.C., at the National Mall’s Reflecting Pool, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris honored the more than 400,000 who have died of COVID-19 in the U.S. since March. Biden and Harris turned to face the Abraham Lincoln monument. President Donald Trump did not participate in the ceremony on Tuesday and he won’t be attending the presidential inauguration on Wednesday.

MIAMI, Fla. – Protesters in front of the Freedom Tower said this was their 208th event supporting President Donald J. Trump in the last five years. About a dozen people gathered at the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 6th Street Saturday. They were marching with Make America Great Again flags, one flag that said Socialism Sucks and had posters of the president. The rally was a peaceful protest. On Wednesday, Trump is expected to leave Washington, D.C. at 8 a.m. and, in breaking with another presidential tradition, will not greet the incoming president at the White House.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, a Cuban-American, met with Rosa Maria Paya on Thursday to present the city’s declaration that Human Rights Day is also Anti-Communism Day in Miami.
