Authorities are racing to recover the remains of 10 people killed in a plane crash in Western Alaska before a winter storm hits the region.

Authorities say a small commuter plane that crashed in western Alaska on its way to the hub community of Nome has been located on sea ice and all 10 on board are dead.

A vast swath of western Alaska could see flooding and high winds as the remnants of Typhoon Merbok move toward the Bering Sea region.
