Read full article: Man killed in Miami Beach hit-and-run was visiting from UKMIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A man killed in a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday in Miami Beach has been identified as Andrew Hamilton, 27, who was a tourist visiting from the U.K.Police said a man driving a silver BMW sped past a police office on Collins Avenue near 15th Street about 2:30 a.m. When the officer went to investigate, he found Hamilton dead in the street near Collins Avenue at 11th Street. "He was traveling southbound from about 15th Street at a very high rate of speed, which resulted in this tragedy," Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said. Police questioned three women who were in the car, but said the driver ditched the car and ran off. Anyone with information about the identity of the driver is asked to call Miami Beach police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

The next day, officers were were conducting a surveillance detail in response to a serial burglar who had been breaking into women's homes throughout Miami Beach, Miami and Coral Gables. Detectives said they saw Gamez loitering near the latest victim's apartment and took him to a police station for questioning. Detectives said Gamez told them that he turned off the TV and lights to conceal himself, but fled the home once the victim started screaming. Miami Beach police spokeswoman Vivian Thayer said further investigation revealed that Gamez is not the serial burglar wanted by multiple law enforcement agencies.

Police said the officer ordered the suspects out of the car, but Kenneth Taylor, 19, took off in the second floor of the parking garage near Bloomingdale's, nearly hitting the officer. Police said Taylor struck the officer's vehicle, as well as a number of other vehicles in the garage and a garage pillar. The video shows Taylor lay on the ground as responding officers arrest him at gunpoint.

He said he yelled at them to get away from his trailer, and said Smigels responded, "(Expletive) you, nobody tells me what to do." Deputies eventually arrived, broke up the fight and transported Chace to the hospital. A surgeon was not able to reattach the one-third portion of Chace's ear due to risk of significant infection.

Surveillance video doesn't show how she ended up on the ground, but it shows the rear tires of the truck running over the woman and the truck driving away. Miami Police are now looking for a man in his 30s who may be driving an older model dark colored Dodge Ram pickup truck.
