With no fanfare, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the bills related to the gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe on Tuesday afternoon, bringing sports betting a step closer in Florida and craps and roulette closer to some tribal casinos.

2 men arrested in killing at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino garage
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino garage back in July, Seminole Tribe police say. Thomas was arrested Nov. 24 in Fort Lauderdale and is being held without bond in the Broward County Jail, authorities say. He will be transported to Broward County, where both suspects are expected to stand trial, the Seminole tribe says. Dion Brown, 21, and Jaleel Arnett Thomas, 25, were arrested in connection with the killing of a North Lauderdale man at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in July. Seminole Tribe police said it took several law enforcement agencies to make the arrests.

Miccosukee casino opens, betting on players wanting to return
MIAMI, Fla. – The Miccosukee Tribe re-opened its casino Sunday morning with the announcement “From our tribe to yours, Welcome Back!” The Miccosukee Resort & Gaming, off of Krome Avenue, is the first casino in South Florida to open since the coronavirus pandemic. Miami-Dade Carlos Gimenez commented on his Twitter account about the opening, explaining that the county doesn’t have jurisdiction over the tribal lands. We've learned that the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming has already opened. (See the welcome back video below)Guests are required to wipe down a slot or other gaming machine after their use. The casino opened its doors Sunday at 9 a.m. and will stay open until 10 p.m. After Sunday, the casino will be open every day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
