COLOMBIA – A terrifying moment during a live broadcast was caught on camera on Tuesday, when an LED wall collapsed on an ESPN presenter in Colombia. The wall and part of the news set fell on top of sports announcer Carlos Orduz. The incident happened during coverage of the Champions League soccer competitions. Orduz posted a message on his Twitter account on Wednesday, to say that he was not seriously injured by the collapse. “To those who wrote to me about the accident last night, I must tell you that I am fine,” he tweeted in Spanish.

Culturally, the symbol resembles a woolen shawl that is typically worn by the citizens of Arab and Gulf countries in winter, which is when the 2022 World Cup will take place, according to FIFA. The World Cup is normally held during the summer months. The US men's national team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

MIAMI – After dangerous weather forced the postponement of the first attempt, the highly-anticipated U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match between Miami FC and FC Cincinnati has been rescheduled for Aug. 2. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 and will still be played at Riccardo Silva Stadium on the main FIU campus. The winner of the Miami FC-FC Cincinnati match will host the New York Red Bulls of the MLS in the Open Cup East semifinal on Aug. 9. Miami FC and FC Cincinnati are the lone remaining Division II teams remaining in the U.S. Open Cup.

MIAMI BEACH – South Florida soccer fans who attended an El Clasico watch party got to see a thriller between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, which ended with a dramatic, game-winning goal by Lionel Messi to give Barca a 3-2 win. Barcelona fans attending the event at 1 Hotel South Beach on Collins avenue on Sunday celebrated the amazing performance by Messi, who won the match with his second goal of the afternoon. This soccer rivalry comes to South Florida for the El Clasico Miami on July 29th at Hard Rock Stadium.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez told Local 10 News reporter Glenna Milberg that he signed a non-binding letter of intent with Miami Beckham United to negotiate the purchase of land owned by the county. The mayor said Beckham's group would pay fair-market value for the property, which is managed by the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department. Because the stadium would be privately owned, Beckham's group would be responsible for paying annual property taxes. However, property owners on the site were reluctant to offer what the Beckham group believed was a fair price for their land. "It is also further confirmation that Miami Beckham United wants its franchise to be in our community," Gimenez said.

"In Colombia they celebrate World Cup victories by throwing cocaine everywhere," Mitch Wrobel said on Twitter Thursday. And Colombian social media users rushed to correct and defend their country. During the 1994 FIFA World Cup, a drug cartel gunman killed professional soccer player Andres Escobar two weeks after he made a mistake on the field.
