Surfside has another new police chief: the old police chief.

Surfside Police Department Chief Wayne Holbrook, who took over from a chief who lasted less than a year on the job before resigning, called it quits himself Thursday — after lasting less than a month as the turbulent town’s top cop.

Police are searching for a minor who they say is behind a string of high-end car thefts out of Miami-Dade County.

Surfside’s new police chief is speaking to Local 10 News in the wake of the arrest of a suspect in a “series of thefts” — and the wake of his ascension to the position, which came after the town’s police chief resigned after mere months on the job amid drama between the mayor and the police union.
