Romania Dukes founded Mothers Fighting For Justice about two years after her son De’Michael Dukes, 18, was fatally shot on July 21, 2014. She and members of the support group have been doing welfare checks on the public housing residents. “Bullets have actually landed on top of the roof of these seniors’ house,” Dukes said. Miami-Dade Police Department officers are investigating a shooting Saturday in West Little River. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - One man was injured in a Saturday morning shooting outside of a home in Miami-Dade County's West Perrine neighborhood, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department. Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, a spokesman for the department, said the man appeared to have suffered a wound to the stomach along Southwest 175th Street between 104th and 103rd Avenues. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel took the man to Jackson South Medical Center. Zabaleta said dispatch received a report of an "apparent" armed robbery, but officers later classified the case as a shooting.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - Detectives released the photograph of a 52-year-old victim Monday and asked the public for help solving the murder investigation in Miami-Dade County's West Perrine neighborhood. Miami-Dade police detectives identified the victim as Nathaniel Hearns. Officers found him dead Saturday night near the intersection of Southwest 176th Street, also known as West Indigo Street, and Homestead Avenue. The crime scene was near the Perrine Community Action Center and the Kerr Memorial United Methodist Church.
