WESTCHESTER, Fla. – Magaly Gonzalez was working at Walmart in Miami-Dade County’s Westchester neighborhood when the store turned into a crime scene. WESTCHESTER, Fla. – It’s been six months since COVID-19 forced Bird Bowl bowling center in the Westchester neighborhood of Miami to temporarily shut down. Susan Coile, the program director at Bird Bowl, said the shutdown was devasting. But now, the 66-year-old business is preparing to welcome customers again as part of the phase 2 reopening in Miami-Dade County. Along with bowling alleys, movie theaters, concert and playhouses, auditoriums, arcades, casinos and other indoor amusement facilities are now allowed to reopen in Miami-Dade County at 50 percent capacity while following new normal guidelines. These are the businesses that were allowed to open on Sept. 18 as Miami-Dade County headed into Phase 2.

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition tents went up just in time for the coronavirus pandemic. A tent that was once designed for livestock was turned into the temporary kitchen for a 252-bed field hospital at Tamiami Park. The field hospital will not be open to the public. Only out-of-capacity hospitals will be able to refer the patient to the field hospital. Rep. Anthony Rodriguez said Emergency Disaster Services, a company based in Kentucky, is under contract to build and run the field hospital.

A portion of the water main was isolated so that workres could excavate the pipe. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police have arrested four suspects accused of breaking into vehicles in a Westchester neighborhood early Thursday. Miami-Dade police said Kevin Aleman, 19, Josten Medina, 20, Randy Mejia, 19, and Michael Rucker, 18, each face charges of burglary and grand theft. Alerted by his security camera system, a Westchester man could see one of the suspects breaking into one of his vehicles. The suspects crashed their getaway car into a white Mercedes-Benz parked outside a home near Southwest 87th Avenue and Southwest 32nd Street. He said his wife usually takes the dog outside at about the time the suspects were snooping around his yard.
