PALM BEACH, Fla. – Following several campaign blitzes in battleground states, former President Donald Trump arrived in Palm Beach Tuesday morning, hours after a late rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“I just think we ran a good campaign. I had good policy. We want people to come into our country but they have to come in legally,” Trump said at his polling place. “We want strong borders and we want people to come in. We want to be totally inclusive, but they have to come in.
“I think it was a big issue. To me, that was the biggest issue. I may be wrong. And a lot of people said inflation — inflation is a disaster. But I think it’s a second issue. I think the first is the border. We can’t allow criminals to be put back into our country or to be put into our country.”
The former president held the final campaign rally of his two-year-long bid for president Monday night, taking the stage after midnight and speaking until after 2 a.m., urging his voters to show up at the polls.
“With your vote tomorrow, we can fix every single problem our country faces and lead America and beat the world to new heights of glory,” he said.
In his closing message, Trump dished out personal insults, even referring to former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi with an expletive.
“She’s a crooked person. She’s a bad person. Evil!” Trump said. “It starts with a B, but I won’t say it. I want to say it!”
Before votes are even counted, the former president cast doubt and made claims about election integrity, saying if he loses, his supporters are to blame.
“If we get out our people, it’s over, there’s nothing they can do about it. Nice when you have that, right? You know?” Trump said. “In other words, to make you feel a little guilty, we would only have you to blame.”
At his rally in Pennsylvania, Trump called some undocumented immigrants “nasty” people, floating the idea of migrants having their own fighting league.
“I want the migrant to go against the champion,” he said. “And I think the migrant might actually win, that’s how nasty some of these guys are.”
At one point, Trump suggested boxer Mike Tyson should get in the ring with Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Mike’s went through a lot, but he could fight, let me tell you,” Trump said. “That guy could fight. But, can you imagine, Mike? Oh, he says, put Mike in the ring with Kamala. That would be interesting. No, but can you imagine.”
In recent weeks, Trump has been appealing to young male voters in a series of interviews on podcasts. And overnight, he got a big endorsement from popular podcaster Joe Rogan.
Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance arrived at a polling site in his home state of Ohio Tuesday morning.
“I hope people will get President Trump over the finish line. Look, I feel good,” Vance said, “You never know until you know, but I feel good about this race. Hopefully, it goes as well for President Trump and me as it went for me a couple of years ago in the state of Ohio.”
