A slight increase in rain chances is forecast for Friday, particularly in the Florida Keys, where heavier downpours may occur, according to Local 10 meteorologist Brandon Orr.

Since Nov. 1, Orr said Miami has recorded less than an inch of rain, far below the 5.5-inch average for the period.
As a result, a moderate drought has developed, stretching from Homestead to Miami, with Local 10 meteorologists warning that conditions could escalate to a severe drought if dry weather persists.
Broward County saw substantial rainfall and flooding last week, but Miami-Dade has remained mostly dry.
“Every little bit of rain helps,” Orr noted, though rain chances remain low at 20% on Thursday.
Showers will be sporadic, with a higher likelihood of rain tomorrow, particularly in the Florida Keys. Broward and Miami-Dade could see light, scattered showers. Weekend rain chances rise to 40% as a weak front moves through, bringing occasional showers but no significant drop in temperatures.
Highs are forecasted to reach 80 degrees, slightly above the seasonal average of 77. New Year’s Eve looks favorable, with dry conditions and temperatures in the 70s, ensuring a comfortable start to 2024.
Meanwhile, a powerful storm system is dominating the west coast, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to areas from Seattle to the Rockies.
The system’s central low pressure is making landfall near Seattle, dragging rain and storms across the Pacific Northwest and into the Rockies.
Travelers may face significant delays as rain extends from Dallas and Houston up to Chicago, with severe weather possible in parts of Texas.
While the Northeast is cold, with temperatures barely above freezing in New York City, the weather there remains relatively calm compared to the stormy conditions out west.
In South Florida, rain chances increase to 40% this weekend as a cold front approaches, though it is not expected to bring cooler temperatures.
The showers should clear out by New Year’s Eve, leaving the region with pleasant and comfortable conditions to ring in 2025.
