MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – South Florida residents are enjoying a mild and sunny start to the final Monday of 2024.
Local 10 meteorologist John Gerard forecasted comfortable temperatures and mostly clear conditions throughout the day.
Some areas of South Florida woke up to mild conditions and some early morning fog as we count down the final days of the year.
Gerard said temperatures are in the mid-70s across the region, with Hollywood Beach reporting hazy conditions on Monday morning.
6 a.m. report:
Fort Lauderdale is at 76 degrees, Miami at 75, and Key West at 77. Other areas, including Kendall, Homestead, Hialeah, Pembroke Pines, and Pompano Beach, are holding steady at 74 to 75 degrees, matching typical highs for this time of year.
A few scattered showers are expected later in the afternoon as a weak cold front moves through the area. “It’s not going to bring cold weather, but you might see a few showers during the day,” Gerrard said, adding that conditions should clear up by the evening and remain dry through New Year’s celebrations.
The forecast calls for temperatures to reach 80 degrees by noon and stay there through the afternoon, with a 20 to 30% chance of rain during peak heating hours.
Temperatures in the region were comfortable early Monday morning, ranging from 67 degrees in Miami and Hialeah to 72 in Key West.
Gerard assured viewers that the morning commute would be hassle-free, with no rain, drizzle, or fog to contend with.
A weak front is expected to move into South Florida later in the afternoon, potentially bringing scattered showers between 3 and 6 p.m. during the day’s peak heating period.
“By tonight, dry weather will sweep in behind the front, setting us up for a clear and mild Tuesday,” Gerard explained.
Looking ahead, New Year’s Eve promises ideal conditions for celebrations, with temperatures hovering around 70 degrees at midnight and no rain in the forecast.
