PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – South Floridians should expect comfortable weather with low humidity and cooler temperatures this weekend — but Tropical Storm Sara will change that next week.
It won’t be the perfect beach and boating weekend for Broward and Miami-Dade counties. A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 1 p.m., Sunday, and a high-rip current risk is in effect through Sunday evening.
Sara’s remnants are forecast to reach Florida after joining a cold front that will drop temperatures to the 50s mid-week in South Florida.
Latest from hurricane center in Miami: Sara drifting near the Bay Islands of Honduras
Hurricane Specialist Michael Lowry reported Tropical Storm Sara formed Thursday afternoon, just 50 miles east of Honduras. It drifted slowly along the country’s northern coast on Friday with torrential rainfall in Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, eastern Guatemala, western Nicaragua, and eastern portions of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
Lowry forecasted Sara to dissipate over southern Mexico and likely not redevelop over the Gulf of Mexico. A cold front will push Sara’s remnants to Florida late Tuesday and Wednesday, and prompt a tornado threat for northern and western Florida.
